We had hoped to spend at least part of the winter of 2016/2017 in the Yuma area, but due to poor weather in the southwest, and various health issues, the trip never happened. Now, Spring has sprung here in Vegas, and we've finally had our first 85 degree days this week. The forecast for locales further south call for temperatures in the mid 90s. And the TV news tonight is showing the super bloom at Anza-Borrego SP, in CA. We went there last year and it was beautiful, though hot. Bet it will be mobbed now with the extra publicity, but it would be cool if we could tack on another stop there on this trip!

Bluegrass on the Beach Festival, Lake Havasu, AZ |
"Bluegrass on the Beach," Lake Havasu, AZ, Mar 3-5, 2017 Happens every year, first weekend of March, at Lake Havasu State Park, AZ
Bob is a volunteer at this festival, which is Mar. 03-05, 2017. He has to arrive a day early (Thurs. Mar 2) to start his work shifts. It takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours to get there from our house so I planned to leave by 9 am,, and son-of-a-gun, we did! Arrived at the campground around noon, only stopping to refuel at the Loves at Lake Havasu on the way. We parked in the paved parking lot area as we did last year, rather than the dirt and hilly parking areas.Parking Lot Camping |

Well, we've finally begun the 2017 travel season. Our 2016 travel focused on hitting some of our bucket list sites, including Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.
For this year, we've decided that we may focus on attending bluegrass festivals in the West. We did attend ones in the spring and fall of 2016 and had such a good time, we thought we'd do it again!
We'd hoped to get started earlier in the season! There was a bluegrass festival in Blythe, CA in January, but we missed that one due to bad weather there and bad health here at home. Then there was a bluegrass festival in Bullhead City, AZ, in February. But we missed that one too - more health issues to deal with. Now, the third fest of the year is coming up at Lake Havasu SP in Arizona - the annual "Bluegrass on the Beach" festival. We said we'd make it to this one come hell or high water! We went to it last year and really enjoyed it! I've finished up my cataract surgeries, my visits to the cancer doctors, cardiologist, and GI doctor so, so long as I can walk and the old IBS is reasonably under control, I'll go!

Well, I put my back out the Sunday before leaving by lifting our solar panel to check it out before traveling. Ouch. Recovered enough so that we can go as long as Bob will do the heavy lifting. Just a little bit nervous about towing the trailer after having been away from it for almost five months! Wow, way too long a time to be away from camping! No wonder I've missed it so much!
